Liability Waiver

Applies to: first aid courses and all events involving physical activity. Last updated: 2 July 2026.

Nature of the activity

Certain Family Frequencies events involve physical activity including, but not limited to: CPR practice, bandaging, casualty handling, and other practical first aid exercises. These activities carry an inherent risk of minor injury, including muscle soreness, bruising, or discomfort.

Participant fitness

By reserving a ticket to an event involving physical activity, you confirm that:

• You are physically capable of participating in the activities described for the event.
• You do not have any medical condition that would prevent safe participation.
• If you have any medical conditions, injuries, or concerns, you have consulted a medical professional before registering.
• You will inform the event facilitator of any medical conditions or physical limitations relevant to participation.

Assumption of risk

You acknowledge that participation in physical activity carries inherent risks. You voluntarily assume all risks associated with participation, including risk of physical injury.

Release of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by New Zealand law, you release Family Frequencies, its organisers, volunteers, venue owners, and facilitators from any claim, liability, cost, or expense arising from injury or loss suffered during participation in the event, except where such injury or loss is caused by our gross negligence or wilful misconduct.

Minors

If you are reserving a ticket on behalf of a minor, you confirm that you are the parent or legal guardian of that minor, and you agree to these terms on their behalf.

This waiver is intended as a reasonable risk management document for community events. It does not limit your rights under the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986.
